I’d like to thank the Academy!

la1

I guess I should start by thanking the Academy. *Sniffles* Oh, wait. Wrong award. I guess I should really start by thanking Kath Quiambao of Read? Read. for the nomination. Because I am just starting out, I always get a little too excited when I see that I have new followers, comments, etc. Soooo.. Imagine my excitement when I saw that I had a nomination! This should be fun. So how does the Liebster Award work? Let me tell you…

Here are the rules:

  • Link back to (and thank) the blogger that nominated you.
  • Answer the 11 questions they give you.
  • Tag up to 11 other bloggers who have 200 or less followers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions and let them know you nominated them!
  1. Is there a book you wish you never read? If yes, what book? Ooooo… This one might get me shot, but I almost wish I had never read anything by Nicholas Sparks. (Ironically enough, I am reading a book of his right now, only so that my grandmother doesn’t disown me.) I find him to be predictable, boring, cheesy, and all of his main characters are the same.
  2. Do you highlight the words/paragraphs you love in a book or do you put tabs (sticky notes) on it? Both. I highlight/underline words and paragraphs that I love. (You should see my copy of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. I read it for a YA class, and it’s almost hard to read for all the markings I made.) I also put notes on segments I particularly like, or areas I might have questions or thoughts about. However, I cannot bring myself to mark certain books. I have three copies of The Hunger Games trilogy – one which I can mark in (like I did for my senior capstone) one for pleasure reading, and one UK copy because have you seen those covers! Beauty.
  3. Do you lend out books? I do. If it is a beloved book, then it only gets lent to someone I really trust. Otherwise, I love to share the joy of reading and know that, as long as it is not a copy I have annotated, the book can be repurchased.
  4. What is/are your favorite book to movie adaptation? The Fault in Our Stars did a pretty great job, as did Harry Potter (for the most part).
  5. Three fictional characters you love? Aaron Warner and Kenji Kishimoto – both from the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. I also would not say that she is one of my all time favorite book characters, but I really love book Ginny Weasley over movie Ginny.
  6. Is there a stand-alone book that you want to have a sequel? If yes, what is that book? None that I can think of off the top of my head, but I would take an epilogue to Ignite Me (*coughcough* Tahereh Mafi).
  7. Do you prefer to have a bookish boyfriend/partner or not? Well, my husband rarely reads, and if he does it is not for pleasure; but I love him! Ha On the other hand, it might be nice to occasionally have someone who understands my nerdy English Major thoughts. Then again, that is what I have all  my wonderful friends for! So I am covered. 🙂
  8. What book can best describe how you feel right now? Any book that can express being exhausted with darkness. As much as I love dystopian literature, I have read so much of it and watched so much Criminal Minds that I am having to give myself a break from all the darkness and gloom. Perhaps that is why I am reading Sparks, though he can be just as depressing…
  9. Do you judge a book by it’s cover? by it’s author? I think that beautiful, relevant, and engaging covers are important, but I will not NOT read a book if it has a bad cover. I definitely have expectations when reading certain authors though.
  10. How many physical books do you own? It would take me months to count. Let’s just say I have a shelf covered in books in most rooms in my house, as well as boxes packed away with books.
  11. What are you reading right now? The Best of Me by Sparks. It’s quite depressing.

My Nominations:

  1. Zoe Moretz
  2. Kristyna Selph of Note to Selph
  3. Clarissa of With Her Nose Stuck in a Book…
  4. Musings of a Reading Mind (Love the quote!)

My Questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What do you look for in a good book?
  3. Do you have a favorite author? Any particular reason why he/she is your favorite?
  4. Why do you love reading? (Loaded question, I know.)
  5. Do you prefer e-book, hardcover, or paperback? Why?
  6. Do you mark in your books? Highlight? Sticky note?
  7. Is there a book that you really want to read but haven’t got around to yet? If yes, what is it?
  8. Which genre is your favorite to read?
  9. Which genre (aside from the one above) do you want to explore in the future?
  10. What inspired you to blog?
  11. What personal achievement are you most proud during your time as a blogger?

Side note: I really enjoyed looking at everyone’s blog layouts! It was so neat to see the different styles and creativity.
